SELECTION CRITERIA
A Legacy of Social Responsibility in York Region
Each year a new group of Portraits of Giving Honourees has been carefully selected by the Portraits of Giving Founder and Committee, Partners or Past Honourees.

Here is the criteria for the various Portraits of Giving Honouree Categories:
​
1) Nine York Region Municipality Honourees
Current Business Owner/Leader/Organization who has contributed at least 4 years of giving back in a significant way to help their community. The Honouree must either live and/or work in the specific municipality. These honourees may be selected in collaboration with Chambers of Commerce/ Boards of Trade and may be a member of their local Chamber/Board of Trade.

2) Young Adult Category
In collaboration with Benson Kearley IFG's Student's Making an Impact Program, one former Grade 12 York Region SMI recipient, who made an outstanding contribution to their community is chosen each year for this Honouree category.
​
3) York Regional Police and Fire/Paramedic Services Categories
Current York Reigonal Police and Fire/Paramedic Service leaders who have contributed at least 4 years of giving back in a significant way over and beyond the call of duty. They must live or work in York Region.
​
4) Sports Category (New 2018 Category)
A Leader who has contributed at least 4 years of giving back to the York Region sports community in a significant way. They must live and work in York Region.
​
5) Life Time Giver (New 2018 Category)
A York Region leader who has dedicated a lifetime of giving back to their community in a significant way. They must live in York Region but can be retired/ no longer working.
