Pictured proudly, standing inside of their family-owned and run Quick Pizza, one doesn’t need to look very far to get an idea of how important the community is to Hamid and Mahdi Hemmati.  The backdrop of sponsorship and community recognition plaques paint a story of their own.  Hanging proudly from wall-to-wall, with ‘always room for one more’, it’s a gallery of gratitude that brings a smile to everyone’s faces and holds a space for “belonging” for all who visit.

Located at 299 Queensway South in Keswick, one could easily drive past the plaza at Biscayne Boulevard without even realizing the remarkable institution that has served and supported so many over the last thirty years.  Their pizza has a reputation for quality and value, but it’s the heart behind the business that keeps bringing people back for more.

Whether they are offering their support by way of donation, sponsorship, discount or gift, Hamid and his family are doing their part and more, to address the growing needs of the community, especially where affordability is concerned.  Quick Pizza is open 7 days a week and still offers specials that remind us of when we were young, like “Toonie Tuesdays” where you can get a signature slice of Quick Pizza’s very best for just $2 (taxes included) or $3 including a pop.  This is no gimmick, but rather one of the many ways Hamid ‘gives’ – ensuring that his customers (especially the students) have an affordable lunch option, rather than not eating at all.  Where else and what else can you eat for just $3?

Since opening its doors in Keswick, back in 1996, the Hemmati’s have always operated with the intention to connect with, and to reinvest in their community.  Through Quick Pizza, the Hamid and Mahdi have done exactly that - supporting a number of sports organizations, including the Georgina Girls Hockey Association, Georgina Minor Hockey Association, Georgina Minor Baseball Association, Lake Simcoe Soccer Club, Georgina Ball Hockey, as well as a few local slo-pitch and volleyball leagues.  The Hemmati’s have contributed to and supported a number of charitable and non-profit organizations, including The Terry Fox Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (North York Chapter) and several breast cancer fundraising initiatives linked to Princess Margaret Hospital.  Hamid has been directly involved in the community through schools and youth programs, including the hot lunch programs at Keswick High School, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Elementary School, Jersey Public School and a handful of other elementary schools.
